“Getting Started with the Science Fair” Open House

When:
Thursday, January 18 from 4 – 6 p.m.

Where:
In the library
Turnagain Elementary School

Why:
Research shows that parents don’t know how to get their kids involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities, yet we want to see our kids engaged in them. PTA wants to help close that gap by simplifying the process and providing families with the hands-on resources they need to help kids complete their science fair projects.

What:

  • Listen to a presentation by parent coach David Mack. He will review prize-winning science fair projects by focusing on what worked. He will also present on the scientific method.
  • Flip through or check out library books for ideas.
  • Do research in the computer lab.
  • Parents and kids can ask teachers and parent coaches how-to questions.
  • Pick up handouts.
  • Trifold display boards and other important supplies will be available for purchase that night.

Who:
Turnagain PTA, Mrs. Eastham, Mrs. White and Mrs. Guest have worked together to coordinate this event. Send an email to turnagainpta@gmail.com if you would like to help out as a parent coach.
